Privacy Policy

This page explains what information MyScamGuide.com collects, how it’s used, and what it isn’t used for. We’ve written it in plain English because this is an identity protection site and we think you deserve a straight answer.

What We Collect

We collect two categories of information:

Analytics data (automatic)

When you visit MyScamGuide.com, Google Analytics 4 collects standard usage data: pages visited, time on page, approximate location (country/region level), device type, and how you arrived at the site. This data is collected via cookies and sent to Google’s servers. It helps us understand which content is useful and where the site can improve.

Google Analytics does not collect your name, email address, or any information that directly identifies you as an individual. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by adjusting your browser’s cookie settings.

Email contact (when you reach out)

If you email us through the contact page, we collect the email address you send from and the content of your message. We use that information only to respond to your inquiry. We don’t add you to any mailing list, share your contact information with third parties, or store it longer than necessary.

Cookies

This site uses cookies primarily through Google Analytics. Cookies are small text files stored in your browser that help analytics tools distinguish between visits. We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or tracking your behavior across other websites.

If you prefer not to accept cookies, you can adjust your browser settings or use a browser extension to block them. Some site functionality may be affected.

Affiliate Links

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and purchase a product or service, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial assessments. We only recommend services we’d recommend regardless of whether an affiliate relationship exists. Articles that contain affiliate links are disclosed at the top of the page.

What We Don’t Do

To be explicit about a few things:

  • We do not sell your personal information to anyone, ever.
  • We do not share your contact information with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not run display advertising that tracks your behavior across sites.
  • We do not build profiles on individual visitors.

Third-Party Links

MyScamGuide.com links to external sites including government resources, the FTC, the IRS, AnnualCreditReport.com, and identity protection service providers. Once you leave this site, their privacy policies govern. We’re not responsible for the practices of third-party sites.

Data Retention

Google Analytics data is retained according to Google’s standard retention settings (26 months by default). Email inquiries are retained only as long as needed to address your message and then deleted. We don’t maintain long-term archives of user communications.

Your Rights

If you’ve emailed us and want to know what information we hold, request a correction, or ask us to delete it, email us again and we’ll handle it promptly. We don’t make this difficult.

If you’re located in the European Union or California, additional rights may apply to you under GDPR or CCPA respectively. The short version: you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Contact us to exercise those rights.

Children’s Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has emailed us, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. We won’t make changes that meaningfully reduce your privacy protections without clear notice.

Contact

Questions about this privacy policy can be sent to the email address on our contact page. We’ll respond.
